Duranta, also called Golden Dew Drops, is a tropical flowering evergreen shrub that makes a great ornamental. Its pure white iridescent flowers blossom throughout the summer. Duranta is a member of the Verbena family, and grows 2-4 feet tall in areas where it dies back in the winter, and can reach up to 18 feet in warm winter environments. This plant is a very fast grower and should produce blossoms in the first year. Plant in full sun, in well-drained soil. In the fall the plant will fill with gold colored berries that offer added appeal, but note they are toxic to humans and dogs if ingested. Hardy in zones 10-11, but often grown as an annual in cooler climates, or in a container to be brough in to a sunny spot for the winter. These plants are growing in 3.5-inch pots.***Note the berries should not be eaten, as they have been known to be poisonous to children, pets and animals.
