The Dwarf Mexican Petunia or Dwarf Purple Ruellia is a stunning ground cover with its glossy green, grass-like foliage and purple flowers. Growing to about 10 inches with a spread of about 12 inches, its not just a grassy border, it fills with purple petunia flowers from spring through frost. This fast grower will fill in any sunny area, so make sure you plant it in a spot where it can keep inbounds. Hardy in zones 10-11 where it is evergreen, will die back in winter in zone 9, and does very well grown as an annual in cooler climates, and great in containers.
